Most women make lifestyle changes while pregnant. But, it is also important to make those changes before you get pregnant. There’s a lot to think about when you want to add a baby to your family. But with a little preparation, you’ll be on your way to a healthy pregnancy.

Tips  to Prepare your Body for Pregnancy

These tips will help you prepare yourself and your body for pregnancy and give you a better chance of having a healthy baby

Take Folic Acid

Folic acid is a vitamin that reduces the risk of birth defects, especially problems with the baby’s spine. It’s recommended to take at least 400mg of folic acid/per day

Eat Healthily

Eating a well-balanced meal with adequate nutrients will make you healthier before you get pregnant. Eat more whole foods over anything processed, Reduce empty calories, and artificial sweeteners. Eat a variety of foods containing proteins, grains, fruits, and vegetables.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising before you get pregnant may help your body deal with all of the changes that you will go through during pregnancy and labor. it’s recommended to move your body at least four to five times a week.

Quit Smoking, Alcohol, and Drugs

Smoking, alcohol consumption, or the use of illicit drugs, can make it harder for you to get pregnant and increase the chance of miscarriage.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Women who are overweight or obese have a higher risk for complications during pregnancy such as preeclampsia, and GDM. Same for underweight women, they are also at risk for serious health problems.

Limit Caffeine intake

You should also cut down on caffeine when you are trying to get pregnant. Women who consume an excessive amount of caffeine may have a harder time getting pregnant and a greater chance of miscarriage.

Reduce Stress

Try to relax and reduce stress as much as possible. Get plenty of rest as this may make it easier for you to get pregnant.

Drink enough water

Keep yourself hydrated for optimal health.
