Some Feeding Guidelines for Children are:
Discourage unacceptable behaviours like standing at the table or throwing food
Let toddlers explore and enjoy food, even if it means eating with their fingers for a while. They will learn to use a spoon.
Don’t force foods on children as rejecting new foods is normal and acceptance is more likely as they become familiar with new foods with repeated opportunities to taste them.
Provide nutritious foods and let children choose which ones and how much they’ll eat. They will gradually acquire the taste of different foods.
Limit sweets as infants and young children have little room for empty kilo-calorie foods in their daily energy allowance.
Don’t turn dining tea into a battleground. Make mealtimes enjoyable. And teach healthy food choices and eating habits in a pleasant manner.
