There are around 40 trillion bacteria in your body, most of which are found in your gut (gut microbiome). Certain types of bacteria in your intestines can also contribute to many diseases. The foods you eat, can impact the type of bacteria found in your digestive tract.
Tips: Eats lots of fruits, legumes and vegetables: they are high in fiber, which promotes the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. Eat prebiotic foods like garlic and onions. Increase your probiotics (yogurt, kefir & pickles). Eat more whole grains. Eat plant based (go meatless for a day each week). Health is a daily practice, not a 2 week challenge!
Your gut bacteria are extremely important for many aspects of health. The best way to maintain a healthy microbiome is to eat a range of fresh, whole foods mainly from plant sources.
